Honeywell KarboTECT 950 heat resistant glove

Moving kiln shelves, taking warm pieces out of the kiln or sorting kiln furniture: in the pottery studio, you regularly deal with warm and hot parts. The KarboTECT 950 from Honeywell is a heat resistant glove made of para aramid, carbon and wool. According to the manufacturer, it is designed for dry contact heat and protects against contact heat up to 250 °C.

The glove is made of heavy knit and fits closely, so you can still grip well despite the heat protection. A wool inner glove provides comfort. It is ambidextrous, so each glove fits both the left and the right hand.

Highlights

  • Contact heat up to 250 °C according to the manufacturer
  • High cut resistance according to the manufacturer
  • Close fit for a secure grip
  • Wool inner glove
  • Ambidextrous

Technical data

  • Model: KarboTECT 950
  • Material: para aramid, carbon, wool
  • Design: heavy knit, knitted cuff
  • Length: approx. 240 to 260 mm
  • Color: yellow and black
  • Sizes: 7, 9, 10
  • Category III personal protective equipment
  • Tested to EN 407 (heat) and EN 388 (mechanical risks); the exact performance levels are marked on the glove

Uses in the studio

  • Unloading a kiln that has cooled down but is still warm
  • Moving warm kiln shelves and kiln furniture
  • Handling warm pieces after firing

If you need higher heat resistance, take a look at the Kittec raku gloves.

Which size?

Size 7 usually fits smaller and medium hands, size 9 medium to large hands and size 10 large hands. A glove that is too big slips and makes a secure grip harder, so if in doubt, choose the smaller size.

Important safety information

  • Read and follow the manufacturer's information before use.
  • According to the manufacturer, designed for dry contact heat. Only use it dry: a damp glove conducts heat much faster, and there is a risk of scalding from steam.
  • Only touch hot parts briefly and set them down quickly.
  • Do not use for raku firing, opening a hot kiln or contact with flames and glowing parts.
  • The short knitted cuff does not protect the forearms.
  • Check for holes and wear before each use. Do not use damaged gloves.
