Shimpo Whisper T Potter's Wheel: 30 decibels at full power
The name is no coincidence: the Whisper T operates at approximately 30 decibels—quieter than a quiet conversation—yet remains a true 300W direct drive unit without belts or pulleys. Shimpo consciously positions it as a premium option for smaller workshops, studio apartments, and training rooms where noise levels are a real concern.
Why the Whisper T is the right choice
If you work in a rented apartment, a multi-family home, or a classroom with thin walls, noise is often the limiting factor. The direct drive makes the Whisper T one of the quietest wheels in its class, without compromising on power. Five height-adjustable positions and interchangeable work surfaces round it off as a well-thought-out workstation. Shimpo does not provide an official centering capacity value in kg for this model—those who regularly work with very large amounts of clay will be on the safe side with the RK 3D or RK 3E (each 45 kg, officially specified).

Matching accessories
For an ergonomic sitting position at the wheel, simply select "With stool" above—a height-adjustable potter's stool (seat height 48–66 cm, washable plastic seat).
For flexible work with large and small workpieces, select "With bat system" above—a Ø 300 mm bat system (255 mm hole pattern, suitable for Shimpo) incl. base plate, inserts in 100/150/200 mm, and adapters for tool-free changing of the work surface, without deforming the workpiece.
Important: The bat system requires a wheel head with pins.
-
When purchasing new: Select "With pins" above—a factory modification (drilling, 2 pins with wing nuts, and a matching MDF plate) that retrofits the existing wheel head.
-
For a wheel already purchased: Use our lightweight cast wheel head in the "With pins and MDF plate" version for direct replacement—no workshop visit required.
Other suitable options include the Lindemann bat systems as well as the plastic bat system inserts and the interchangeable discs—each with the standard hole pattern suitable for Shimpo (254 mm / 2 pins).
Practical workshop accessories: The vessel lifter makes it easier to remove freshly thrown pieces from the wheel head, and the clay centering tool helps with cleanly centering the clay. For a replacement or second splash pan, choose the version matching your model from our splash pan selection.
Which Shimpo wheel is right for me?
If you need an officially certified higher centering capacity for larger amounts of clay, the RK 3D and RK 3E, each with 45 kg, are the more powerful sister models. If less power at a lower price is sufficient, take a look at the RK 55.
