Amaco DL-42 Dipping & Layering River Moss
River Moss from Amaco's Dipping & Layering series is an opaque, glossy dark green stoneware glaze in powder form. When applied thinly, it becomes transparent and reveals lighter highlights on edges and raised surfaces. The glaze has slight flow during firing and is particularly well-suited as a top layer for layering techniques.
The Dipping & Layering glazes are powder glazes designed for dipping and pouring. Each bag contains a pre-weighed dry mix that is simply mixed with distilled water, making it economical for studios and classrooms while providing consistent, easy-to-layer results. The color palette is based on popular tones from the Potter’s Choice series.

Application
- Apply to bisque fired to Cone 04
- Mix powder with approx. 3.8 L of distilled water until lump-free; for best results, sieve and let sit overnight
- Dip the bisque for 1 to 3 seconds and let drain; stir the glaze well before each use
- Slightly fluid during firing, avoid overly thick application
- Can be used alone or as a top layer for layering techniques
- Wear a dust mask and ensure good ventilation when mixing
- Always fire a test piece with each new batch number
