Kiln delivery times 2026: An overview of Kittec and Pyrotec

How long does it currently take for a new ceramic kiln to arrive at your door? The short answer: For most Kittec and Pyrotec models, you should expect a waiting period of several months. As of July 2026, delivery times from German specialist retailers range between approximately 16 and 23 weeks, depending on the manufacturer and model. While that may sound long, there is no need to worry. In this article, you will learn why wait times are so long, what you can expect from individual manufacturers, and how to get your kiln faster. At a glance (As of October 2026) Kittec: typically about 16 to 18 weeks Pyrotec: typically 20 weeks or more Overall range in retail: approximately 16 to 23 weeks It is often significantly faster with in-stock items, pre-reserved quotas, and returns Why are the lead times so long? The most important point: Kilns are not off-the-shelf items. There are countless configuration options for each kiln to meet the diverse needs of customers. For example, there are 17 different model types to choose from in the Kittec CB Classic-Line alone. This high variety prevents simple, standardized pre-production. Consequently, both manufacturers produce their kilns primarily to order and in relatively small quantities in Germany. Your kiln is not taken from a full warehouse and shipped, but built only after you place your order. While specialist retailers—like us at Formwerk Berlin—try to keep the most common models in stock, demand is often difficult to predict. One month, perhaps only two kilns are sold; the next, a dozen. As a result, the very models that are currently in high demand are often the ones unavailable. Lead times for Kittec For Kittec kilns, the delivery time currently ranges from approximately 16 to 18 weeks, depending on the model. Kittec produces their popular top-loaders in the Studio and Classic lines in small quantities, which explains their solid quality. A special note: The ECO series is intended as a more affordable entry-level line and is sometimes noticeably faster to obtain than the larger models. If the waiting time is a priority for you, it is worth looking specifically at this range or making a quick inquiry about current availability. Lead times for Pyrotec Pyrotec kilns currently have lead times of 20 weeks or more in some cases. The same applies here: the kilns in the Studio and Profitherm series are manufactured in Germany upon order; the manufacturer typically provides the exact delivery date only after the order has been placed. Why the same model number takes more time in some cases than others If you compare different shops, you will often find very different information for the exact same model. Sometimes it says 12 to 16 weeks, sometimes 20 to 22, and sometimes even more. This is not due to the model itself, but how well a retailer is connected with the manufacturer. Those who order early and in fixed quotas, maintain their own inventory, or have access to verified returns can deliver much faster in practice than the raw manufacturer estimate suggests. A lead time is therefore always a matter of the retailer, not just the brand. We show you which model is right for you in our comparison of the best kilns for 2026. What delivery actually includes One point often overlooked: kilns are generally delivered by a freight forwarder to the curb. This means the carrier will drop the kiln off in front of your house and will not carry it into your home or basement. With a net weight often between 45 and 60 kilograms, this should not be underestimated. Plan the transport to the actual installation site in advance, ideally with the help of a strong second person. For difficult paths, stairs, or tight spaces, we offer an installation service upon request: Ground-level installation service, €238.00. Includes max. 1 hour for ground-level delivery into the house on a solid, level surface without thresholds, as well as installation and instruction. Each additional 15 minutes is €23.80. An assistant on site is required. Delivery and installation up to 450 kg. Ground-level installation service, difficult conditions, €309.40. Includes max. 1 hour for ground-level delivery into the house under difficult conditions (e.g., partially unpaved or uneven ground, slight incline or decline, or thresholds up to 3 cm), as well as installation and instruction. Each additional 15 minutes is €23.80. A strong assistant on site is required. Delivery and installation up to 450 kg. Installation service with stairs transport downwards, €511.70. Includes max. 2 hours for delivery into the house via stairs (downward), as well as installation and instruction. Each additional 15 minutes is €23.80. Two strong assistants on site are required. Delivery and installation up to 450 kg. Installation service with stairs transport upwards, €1,154.30. Includes max. 3 hours for delivery into the house via stairs (upward), as well as installation and instruction. Each additional 15 minutes is €23.80 per worker. Delivery and installation up to a maximum of 360 kg. Even smaller kilns usually weigh 45 kg or more. The transport from the street to your own studio or home should therefore not be underestimated. What you can prepare during the wait The waiting time is not unproductive downtime. You can use it to prepare everything for your first firing: Check the power connection. Smaller models often run on a standard 230-volt outlet, while larger kilns require a 400-volt high-voltage connection. Clarify this early on, if necessary with a professional electrician. Learn how this impacts consumption and costs in our guide on how much electricity a kiln consumes. Prepare the location. Manufacturers generally recommend at least 50 centimeters of clearance on the sides and 100 centimeters to the ceiling. The surface should be non-flammable. If you plan to fire glazes, ensure you have ventilation to the outdoors for safety reasons. Get clay and glazes. This way, you can get started as soon as the kiln arrives. We are happy to put together a suitable package for you upon request. How to shorten the wait Even though short delivery times can never be guaranteed, there are several ways to get a kiln faster: Use inventory. We sometimes have popular models directly in stock. Pre-reserved quotas. We regularly reserve kilns with manufacturers so we don't start at the back of the queue. Returns and verified B-stock. These units are often available immediately or on short notice and are also more affordable. Stay flexible. Those who have some leeway regarding the model, color, or controller often reach their goal faster. We cannot guarantee short times. However, things often go much faster if you are flexible and inquire early. Feel free to contact us at any time at: kontakt@formwerk-berlin.de Warranty and spare parts despite long lead times Long lead times do not mean you will wait forever if a defect occurs later. Both manufacturers provide a 36-month warranty on their kilns. And while a complete kiln takes months, spare parts such as insulation material, thermocouples, contactors, and heating coils are usually available on short notice. So, while the kiln itself takes time, maintenance and supply are well secured regardless. In 2026, the delivery time from retailers is about 16 to 23 weeks, depending on the manufacturer and model. Kittec kilns typically take about 16 to 18 weeks, while Pyrotec kilns take 20 weeks or more. Why does delivery take so long? Because the kilns are mostly manufactured to order and in small quantities in Germany. They are not shelf items but are built and tested after you place your order. Are there kilns that are immediately available? Sometimes, yes. Individual kilns are available on short notice via inventory, pre-reserved quotas, and verified returns. Cheaper entry-level series like the Kittec ECO are also often available faster. What does curb-side delivery mean? The freight carrier delivers the kiln to your house—the curb—and does not carry it inside. You are responsible for planning the transport to the final installation site, or you can use our installation service. Can I shorten the delivery time? Yes. Order early, stay flexible with the model and features, and consider in-stock items or returns. It is best to ask about current availability directly.
