Kittec castors for greater flexibility
With castors, your kiln can be moved for loading, cleaning, or repositioning without anyone having to lift it. Two of the four castors are equipped with a locking brake to ensure the kiln stands securely during operation.
Which set fits your kiln?
The deciding factor is not just the series, but also the weight of your kiln when loaded. Below is an overview of the suitable kilns and castors.
These are only suggestions. You can choose castors with a higher load capacity than those specified here if desired, e.g., equipping the CB 20 kiln with PROFI castors instead of BASIC castors.
| Kittec kiln model |
Castors |
Load capacity |
| CB 20 to CB 50, CBN 15, SQ 11, CBF 45 |
BASIC |
up to 120 kg |
| Toploader ECO, CB 60 to CB 380, CBN from 33, SQ 70 to SQ 350, CBF from 65, gas kiln CBG |
PROFI |
up to 400 kg |
| Raku kilns CBR |
extra wide |
for the Raku frame |
| Fusing SQF 95 and SQF 180 |
LARGE |
up to 400 kg |
| Frontloader CL, CT, XR and XT |
MASSIV |
up to 1000 kg |
Important: how to calculate the load capacity
The load capacity always refers to the total weight, not the empty kiln. Add together:
- Unladen weight of the kiln
-
Kiln furniture, i.e., shelves, props, and trivets
-
Load, i.e., the ware placed in the kiln
This makes a big difference, especially with large toploader models. A fully equipped kiln furniture set quickly weighs several dozen kilos, plus the ware. If you load it fully on a regular basis and are getting close to the limit, choose the next larger version.
The manufacturer's specifications for load capacity also apply to smooth, solid floors. You should factor in a reserve on rough or uneven surfaces.
For CB 460, CB 520 oval, and SQ 390, it is best to check with us briefly. Depending on the kiln furniture and load, these models are close to the limit of the PROFI version, so we prefer to check this together before you order.
Toploaders of the X-series do not need a set. They have standard castors on the rear axle.
Kittec does not offer castors for the gas kiln XG. Instead, leveling feet are available for a stable, aligned position.
New purchase or retrofitting
For the frontloaders CL, CT, XR, XT, and the fusing kiln SQF, Kittec distinguishes between the set you order with a new kiln and a retrofit set for a unit that has already been delivered. The retrofit set contains additional mounting material and is correspondingly more expensive.
For the toploaders, there is only one item that covers both cases.
Our tip: If you are currently configuring a kiln, include the castors immediately. It is cheaper than retrofitting later.
Advantages of the castors
- Kiln can be moved for loading, cleaning, and repositioning
- Two of the four castors with locking brake for secure standing during operation
- Version matched to series and weight, from 120 kg to 1000 kg
- Can be ordered with the kiln purchase or available as a retrofit set
Are you unsure which set fits?
Send us your exact kiln model using the contact form below and let us know if you load it fully, for example CBN 70 PLUS or CT 250-3. We will check the appropriate version before you order. This is more important for castors than for other accessories, because the load capacity limits are binding.
