Witgert turning compound no. 11 – stoneware clay
This white stoneware clay from Witgert is a versatile throwing and stamping slip without grog. It contains kaolin, which makes the consistency particularly pliable, and is wet-processed, so it remains malleable and has a long shelf life. . Due to its fine grain, the clay can be easily turned on the wheel and is also suitable for precise stamping work.
Characteristics
The fired color is pure white, with a drying shrinkage of about 5.8% and a firing shrinkage of about 6.8% at 1200°C. The recommended firing range is between 1000 °C and 1300 °C; at 1200 °C, water absorption is approximately 1.6%. The material is supplied without fireclay (0 mm grain size), has a sintering temperature of 1250 °C and comes in a handy 10 kg block. .
