According to the manufacturer, the Clay Boss is one of the most popular models on the US market: a robust belt drive with load-sensing technology that keeps the speed constant even under varying clay loads, paired with a generous polyethylene wheel head.

Why the Speedball Clay Boss is the right choice

Compared to the BTH wheels (Sirius, Andromeda), the Clay Boss relies on a classic belt drive with a load sensor—a technology proven in the USA for decades—rather than a direct drive. With a centering capacity of up to 45 kg, it falls between the Sirius and Andromeda, but the manufacturer offers a significantly longer warranty of 10 years compared to BTH.

Technical Highlights & Benefits

Load-sensing technology: Automatically keeps the speed constant under varying clay loads.

Powerful belt drive: 0.5 HP motor for reliable performance.

Two-piece splash pan: Easy to remove and clean.

Foot pedal with infinitely variable speed control.

Robust polyethylene wheel head: Low-maintenance and durable.

10-year manufacturer warranty.

Technical Data at a Glance

Motor power: 0.5 HP (approx. 370 W), belt drive

Voltage: 230 V (EU version)

Speed: 0–240 rpm

Centering capacity: up to 45 kg of clay

Wheel head: Ø 35.5 cm (14 inches) polyethylene, bat pin spacing 254 mm (10 inches)

Manufacturer warranty: 10 years

Scope of Delivery

1x Speedball Clay Boss pottery wheel

1x Polyethylene wheel head Ø 35.5 cm

2x Bats with SAE bat pins, included by the manufacturer

1x Two-piece splash pan

1x Foot pedal

1x Operating manual

Which accessories are right for me?

According to the manufacturer, the Clay Boss has a bat pin spacing of 10 inches (254 mm), which corresponds to the European 254 mm standard. However, the pre-installed pins use the US SAE measurement, whereas European bat systems like the Lindemann system are designed for 10 mm pins. We have therefore consciously decided not to offer the Lindemann bat system as a bundle here until the fit is clarified; we are currently in contact with the importer, 1240.design, regarding this. For a healthy sitting posture during longer sessions, you can order the Lindemann pottery stool directly as a variation—as it is purely a piece of furniture without any interface requirements, it is fully compatible with every wheel.

Questions?

Are you unsure if the Clay Boss is the right choice for your needs, or do you have questions about delivery time and assembly?
